Our high-capacity systems have enabled Milos to develop many new and interesting structural engineers projects. The QuickTruss M400 RECT is currently being used extensively within new 4 bilion GBP London Airport Terminal 5 extension site, phase one scheduled for completion by April 2008.
The main T5 building will be the largest single span building in the UK, incorporating 18,000 tonnes of steelwork and 5000 tones of roofing materials.
M400 was selected to construct special overhead gantries to mount accurate concrete pouring heads and optical sensors to ensure foundantions and infrastructure areas meet the exact specification requirements required for one of the busiest airports in the world. During early tests and evaluation, the free-span and deflection characteristics of the specified system out performed all other available options and even steel beam constructions traditionally used for this aplication.
The huge scale of the project and integrated team approach has created an enviroment where innovation and inspiration are leading to novel solutions and new levels of economy and efficiency.
